Space Installation at Taipei Zhongshan Hall Life Square
Zhongshan Hall Life Square offers a sanctuary for neighbors to unwind. The artwork builds upon the plaza’s existing features, carving out a new space for life right at its busy entrance.
The design reimagines the shape of the memorial monument, extending its reach to form a semi-private wall. This structure fosters a sense of intimacy within the square while preserving the clear view connecting Yongsui Street to Zhongshan Hall. By adding a translucent overhead canopy in specific areas, the space feels more sheltered, encouraging people to slow down and linger at this high-traffic junction.
Through the use of natural wood, the installation softens the chill of the original stone ground, transforming the plaza into a warm, welcoming, and beautifully ‘in-between’ space.
